Why Zell?

Zell is actually a play on words.
It first stands for the "L"(aurence): Not that Laurence is a common name, though. This is however a nice symbol of the mindset we share.
les Zell does also mean "the wings" in French, like the wings of the desire which fuels our motivation to get onto our next challenge.

Our project in less than 5min
We are 2 young women, both named Laurence. In 2010, we rowed across the Atlantic ocean as a 4's, taking part in Woodvale Atlantic race. A success apparently as we finished 1st women and 1st in our category. But, we felt we had not taken the "ultimate test" we had been looking for. That's how we came up with the idea of rowing across a tougher and wilder ocean as a pair... Indian ocean, here we are!

The challenge: Starting from Geraldton (Australia), we'll have to row more than 3,100 nautical miles to reach arrival in Mauritius. 2 rowers for 2 rowing positions: the opportunity for unlimited rowing hours. No doubt, our hunger for "more and beyond" will be satisfied!

Our objective is primarily to make it to the other side, which is not the least of a challenge (most attempts have failed so far). Whatever happens, we will make sure we give everything we can to the adventure, flirting with our limits. Our purpose is to unveil the mental and physical resources we have hidden somewhere inside.

The record as a pair is the most accessible of all ocean rowing records (according to the experts). If the Indian ocean gives us a chance, we will definitely go for it.
